Oren Peli's Area 51 Movie

Area 51 is Paranormal Activity director Oren Peli next movie. It's a sci-fi horror movie that will bring us to the mysterious Area 51 where, according to popular lore, the US army is hiding spaceships and aliens! This time Director Oren Peli isn't working on a shoestring budge: he's got $5 million dollar from Paramount to carry out the project. But he still prefers to work with unknown actors: Area 51 is starring Benjamin Rovner, Reid Warner and Darrin Bragg.

The team of Area 51 started to film in October 2009, so the release date of Area 51
is likely to be set for the second half of 2010.

They're trying to keep their lips tight about the plot of Area 51:

"I'd rather not say anything about Area 51 except that I am very pleased to be working with the same team who stood by me for the two or three years it took Paranormal Activity to get into theaters."

Basically Oren Peli wants to take the best things that made Paranormal Activity a success and transpose them into the mysterious Area 51, with some alien replacing the malevolent demon. It be filmed like a documentary.
